China, Brazil vow to boost economic, trade cooperation

Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan said on Tuesday that China was willing to work with Brazil to boost cooperation between businesses.
Wang made the remarks at the closing ceremony of a seminar between entrepreneurs from China and Brazil in Beijing, which he attended with Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff.
In his address, Wang praised the effective cooperation between the two countries in areas such as energy, resources, finance, agriculture, science and infrastructure.
He also spoke highly of bilateral cooperation on international and regional issues, namely the cooperation under the framework of the Group of Twenty, the BRICS Summit and the Doha Round Negotiation.
He called on both sides to seriously implement the joint action plan between the two governments and use the China-Brazil High-level Coordination and Cooperation Committee as a platform to create good business environments for both enterprises.
Rousseff said in her speech that Brazil attached great importance to the bilateral strategic partnership and had been making active efforts to enhance bilateral pragmatic cooperation.
She said the rapid development of bilateral economic and trade relations had demonstrated the great potential and advantages of cooperations between developing countries. The 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games will be held in Brazil, said Rousseff, adding that the two events would provide golden opportunities for boosting bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
The seminar, co-hosted by China Development Bank and Brazilian Foreign Ministry, was attended by about 700 entrepreneurs and governmental representatives from both countries.
Before the seminar, Wang and Rousseff held a brief meeting on strengthening bilateral pragmatic cooperation.
Rousseff kicked off her six-day state visit to China on Monday. She and President Hu Jintao held talks Tuesday afternoon.
Rousseff will also attend the third BRICS summit, a meeting of leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and the annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia in China”s southern island province of Hainan.
